Sage's men's volleyball team is tournament bound!

 

Troy, NY---The Sage College's men's volleyball team has earned the program's first post-season appearance! The Gators, a first-year varsity program at Sage, have earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2010 Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Championship.

The top seed, the College of Mt. Saint Vincent will host the event on Sunday, March 21. The Dolphins are the league's defending champions and went 10-0 in league play this year. Bard College earned the No. 2 seed after an 8-2 mark in conference action, while Yeshiva is seeded third with a 4-6 conference record. Rounding out the field is Sage with a 3-7 mark as the Gators held the tie-breaker over Purchase, which also had a 3-7 conference record.

Head Coach Andy Smith said of the team's accomplishment, "I am very excited and proud of our guys for making the conference tournament!" Smith added, "It was a goal of ours to be competitive in the Skyline Conference in our first year and the team has worked hard all season long and that work has paid off."

Action will commence on Mt. St. Vincent's campus on Sunday with the No. 1 vs. No. 4 match at 10:00 a.m. and the other semifinal contest to follow at noon. The championship match will take place later in the afternoon on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
