Gators drop a pair on Saturday to Purchase and Stevens


 

Purchase, NY----The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team travelled to Purchase College on Saturday afternoon for a tri-match with the host Panthers and the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology. Purchase added a 3-0 win over Sage, while Stevens topped the Gators 3-0 as well. Sage is now 5-15 on the year.

Sage vs. Purchase (30-28, 30-24, 30-21)

Sage's rookie Anthony Gerace (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) added 23 setting assists for the Gators in the match with four digs, and four blocking assists.  Freshman Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) racked up seven kills with 16 digs. Rookie middle hitter Jed Kubisch (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) added 12 kills with 12 digs for a double-double in the Skyline Conference match with the Panthers of Purchase College.

Sage vs. Stevens (30-18, 30-13, 30-17)

In the nightcap, Sage dropped a 3-0 decision to the Ducks in a NECVA match. Gerace was held to just eight setting assists with four digs and two kills, while Ray added seven digs with a blocking assist and just one kill.

The Gators will return to action on Sunday, March 7 at New Jersey City University for a tri-match with Yeshiva University.
