Sage falls at the hands of the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz

NY----The Sage Colleges men’s volleyball team
travelled to SUNY-New Paltz for a NECVA contest on Tuesday night.
The Hawks posted the 3-0 win to improve to 16-14 on the year, while
Sage drops to 5-18.

For the Gators, freshman middle hitter Jed Kubisch (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) added nine kills with nine digs, while freshman Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had five kills with 11 digs. Rookie Ryan Couch (Nyskayuna, NY/Colonie) added five kills and nine digs for Sage as well.
The Gators must await the outcome of the match between Purchase College and NYU-Poly tonight to determine if they will earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2010 Skyline Conference Men’s Volleyball Championships. Action for the tournament will take place with the semifinals and finals at the No. 1 seed, Mt. St. Vincent on March 21 at a site to be determined. Should the Gators qualify they would earn the No. 4 seed and play the first semifinal match of the tournament.
In the match with NYU-Poly the Gators posted the win behind the play of Kubisch as he had 33 digs with 19 kills. Gerace added 38 setting assists with 11 digs and four blocks. Ray added a double-double with 17 kills and 19 digs.
The Gators’ final match of the 2010 season in their inaugural varsity season will take place on Tuesday, March 23 when Sage hosts SUNY-IT in the Kahl Center at 7 p.m.
