Sage's Andy Smith leads Adirondack Team to Silver Medal At Empire State Games
Troy, NY----The Sage Colleges men’s volleyball team head coach, Andy Smith recently served as the head coach of the Adirondack Men’s Volleyball Open Team at the 2010 Empire State Games in Buffalo, NY.
Smith directed his Adironack Team to a Silver Medal at the games and a second place finish. The club went undefeated in pool play, but dropped the first match of the double-elimination playoffs to the NYC team. They battled back through the losers’ bracket by beating both Central and the same NYC team on the way to the finals. In the finals, Adirondack dropped a 3-0 decision to the Western Team to take home the Silver Medal at this year’s Empire State Games, which were held on the campus of the University at Buffalo, July 21-25.
Smith is entering his second full-season as head coach of the men’s volleyball program at Sage. He guided the squad to a spot in the 2010 Skyline Conference Tournament in the program’s first varsity season on action.
