Erie, PA- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team wrapped up competition on Sunday at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. The Gators posted a 3-1 win over Keuka (25-14, 28-26, 20-25, 25-17) to improve to 6-6. Sage has now won four of their last five matches heading into this week's conference play.
Sage opens league play this week in the United Volleyball Conference, the UVC. Sage will travel to Bard College on February 17 for a 1 p.m. match in the UVC and then face Elmira College also in conference play on Sunday, February 18 at Bard at 11:00 a.m.
Sage's senior outside hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added a team-best 13 kills with 10 digs, four aces and a team-best 18.0 points in the match. After setting the career point mark on Saturday, Guyton continues to add to his active mark that now stands at 1,240.0 points. Also the career ace leader, he has 182 aces to go with his 974 career kills.
Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) chipped in with 10 kills and 10 digs on the day and finished with 11.5 points. He is closing in on his 1,000th career kill as he now has 985 and is second all-time behind Dylan Krowicki with 1,040 kills. Cecchi is also third in career points with 1,153.0 points in his time as a Gator.
Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) led the team with his 15 digs and continues to add to his active career record for digs at Sage, which has grown to 755 digs.
Sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) added another impressive showing at the net with a .571 attack percentage to go with his nine kills. Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) added 14 setting assists in the match with four digs and an ace.
Sophomore outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) picked up six kills with two total blocks, while junior Zackery Karl (West Monroe, NY/Central Square) added eight kills and had a .615 attack percentage with two aces and block.
