Albany, NY- Sage's men's soccer squad hosted the Pioneers of Utica College on Saturday night in a conference match-up. Sage and Utica played to a scoreless tie, marking the second straight tie for the Gators. Sage is now 7-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the Empire 8, while Utica is 6-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the Empire 8.
The two teams played in a defensive battle that saw the Pioneers rack up 16 shots, while Sage tallied 13 in the 110 minutes of play.
Sage's junior goalie Michael Chiaravalloti (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) made six saves in the game, while Utica's sophomore keeper Jonathan Side (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) picked up six saves as well for the Pioneers.
Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Ithaca College for a 4 p.m. non-league game on October 18, while Utica College will host Houghton College on October 21 in a noon Empire 8 match-uo.
