Trudeau steps down as softball coach

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' department of athletics has announced the resignation of Jamie Trudeau as the head softball coach, effective July 31. Sage will conduct a national search for a new softball coach for the coming year commencing immediately.

Augstein-Collins commented about Trudeau, "We would like to thank Jamie for her outstanding contributions to the department this past year." She added, "We wish Jamie the best of luck in her future endeavors as she departs from coaching to pursue other opportunities."

She joined the Sage staff in the Fall of 2017 after serving as the head softball coach at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for the past three seasons. Trudeau was named head softball coach in January of 2015 at MCLA and promptly led the Trailblazers to their first NCAA tournament appearance and conference championship since 1995.  In her first season at MCLA, the Trailblazers improved dramatically on the offensive end more than tripling their extra base hits from the previous season.

Trudeau has 12 years of experience in the collegiate level and was a volunteer assistant coach at Division I Siena College in Loudonville, NY from 2013-2015, primarily working as the hitting instructor and infield coach.  She also worked as an instructor for the All Stars Baseball/Softball Academy in Latham, NY. She also served as the head women's soccer and softball coach at nearby Hudson Valley Community College in 2003-2004 and led the softball team to the 2004 Mountain Valley Conference Championship and a regional finalist showing.

Trudeau was at the helm at Wells College in Aurora, NY, for three seasons.  While at Wells, she led the program to its highest win total in school history. The student-athletes in her program also were recognized for their academic success.

Trudeau has coached teams to five different conference championships including three regional final appearances and one 4th place finish in the NCAA Division III World Series. In 2006 and 2007 Trudeau was selected to the NFCA Northeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. With Trudeau's two seasons assisting at Plattsburg State University they we able to accomplish the programs best record along with breaking 19 of the program's records.

Trudeau received her bachelor's degree in physical education from Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC, in 2003 before earning a master's degree in arts, health, physical education and recreation, with an emphasis on athletic administration from the University of South Dakota in 2006.
