Gators back on winning track as they down CMSV, 66-51
Riverdale, NY---The Sage Colleges women's basketball team traveled to the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Thursday evening for a Skyline Conference contest. Sage tallied the important conference win as they beat the Dolphins 66-51. Sage improves to 6-10 overall and 5-6 in the league, while CMSV drops to 6-11 overall and 4-8 in the league.
The Gators trailed 26-23 at the break and rallied for the win as four different players finished in double-digit scoring. Lead the way for the Gators was junior guard Sarah Carciobolo (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie) led the way as she racked up 18 points off the bench. She shot 5-7 from the floor and made 7-of-8 shots from the free throw line. A transfer from HVCC, Carciobolo has tallied 685 career points, having just surpassed the 100 point plateau on the 2010-2011 season.
Sage's sophomore guard Carly Vallee (East Greenbush, NY/Catholic Central) paced the team with another double-digit effort as she tallied 15 points. She added a pair of three-point baskets and moved even closer to taking over the No. 9 spot on the career three-point list. She has 42, just two behind the mark held by Connie Kaidas's (2003-2005), 44.
Rookie forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) added 12 points and was the team's high rebounder with nine boards. She added two assists, two blocks and two steals. Senior guard Liz Donk (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) added 10 points with three assists. Donk has 267 career assists and is edging closer to the No. 2 spot held by Sherri Elmer (279).
Sage returns to action on January 29 travelling to the St. Joseph's College for a 3 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
