Gators fall to Purchase in Skyline Conference opener

Purchase, NY---The Sage Colleges women's basketball team
opened play in the Skyline Conference on Tuesday night facing the
Panthers of Purchase College. Purchase tallied the 69-56 victory
and stands at 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the league, while Sage falls
to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Purchase led 38-32 at the half and had four players finish in double-digit scoring on the night, while freshmen twin sisters, Jessica and Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) added double-doubles with 10 and 11 points, respectively and 14 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Carly Vallee (East Greenbush, NY/Catholic Central) connected for 16 points and hit four-of-nine from three point range. Senior Jessica Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) racked up a season-high 15 points with six assists and three steals in the game. Sophomore forward Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central) chipped in with 10 rebounds, five points and a block. She now has 26 career blocks and ranks eighth all-time on the Sage record book.
Sage returns to action on December 2 hosting Mt. St. Mary College in the Neff Center as the Skyline Conference contest starts at 6 p.m.
