Sage adds Chris Miller to men's soccer coaching staff
Troy, NY----The Sage Colleges Athletic Director, Dani Drews announced the selection of Chris Miller (Guilderland Center, NY) to serve as the first assistant coach for Sage's men's soccer program. Miller joins Head Coach Kyle Clancy's staff and will lead the Gators in the first year of varsity action when the team hits the pitch this fall.
Miller comes to Sage with an extensive resume having played for the Red Dragons of Oneonta State during their time as an NCAA Division I program. A former two-time SUNYAC All-Conference Honorable Mention, Miller played in 66 games during his career before embarking on a highly-successful playing career as a member of the Capital District Alley Cats, a professional soccer team in 1998. He has continued to give back to the sport of soccer having also served as both a head and assistant coach in the Division III and Division I ranks. Tapped as the Little East Men's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2004, while leading the University of Southern Maine's program, Miller guided the program to a winning level during his tenure as his 2004 team produced an 11-5-3 mark.
Active in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), Miller has served as a coach in Maine and New York states and most recently held the position as head coach of the ENYYSA ODP North 93 Boys' coach as the ENYYSA ODP North 94 Boys' coach in 2009. Miller holds a NSCAA Premier License, which he earned in 2008 as well as a National Advanced License, which he attained in 2007.
Miller arrives at Sage and will assist the Gators in all phases of the program from recruiting, scouting, game preparation and management. He will assist with individual player development and practice preparation and evaluation.
The 2010 Gators will open their season on September 3-4 at the Oswego State College Classic, facing the host Lakers in the season opener on September 3 at 3:30 p.m. Sage's home opener is slated for Tuesday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. when the Gators host the Colonels of Curry College in a non-conference match to be held on the campus of Albany Academy for Boys.
