Late-game surge not enough as Gators fall, 2-1
Sage dropped a tough match on Saturday to Westfield State.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Juniors Justin Laliberte (Westhampton) and Josh Severns (Enfield, CT) struck for first-half goals to lead the Westfield State University men's soccer team to a 2-1 decision over Sage College of Troy, NY, on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The Owls improved to 3-1 while the Gators dropped to 1-3.
Westfield scored its goals in a three-minute span midway through the first half. Laliberte found the back of the net from the left side after receiving a nice cross pass from Kyle Yelin (Southwick) in the 22nd minute.
In the 25th minute, the Owls had another breakway with Severns receiving a cross pass from junior Tim Parsons (Buzzards Bay). Severns' shot rattled the left post before finally cross the goal line.
Sage rallied for a goal in the 79th minute when freshman Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, Maine) found the back off the net with a shot from the short right side after receiving a cross pass from freshman Rush Farinella (Saratoga Springs, NY).
Westfield outshot Sage, 21-15. Gator goalie Tim Madden registered six saves and Westfield keeper Jeff Pepoli had four stops.
