Sage falls to Grove City, 1-0: Mignon earns All-Tourney Honors
Sage dropped a tough 1-0 decision to GCC on Saturday in the team's second game of the young season.
Oswego, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team
competed on Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the
Oswego State Kickoff Tournament. Grove City College collected the
win as they handed the Gators a narrow 1-0 setback. Grove City
stands at 1-0-1 on the year, while Sage falls to 0-2 on the young
season.
Sage's rookie defender James Mignon (Garden City, NY/Garden City) was named to the All-Tournament Team for his play over the course of Sage's two games.
Grove City struck with the only goal of the match early in the first half as Alex Ayer scored at the 13:39 mark. The goal would be the only of the contest as Grove City held a 15-6 edge on shots.
Sage's while rookie goalie Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) played the whole match in goal with eight saves, while the Gator defense racked up three team saves in the match.
Sage will take to the pitch again on Wednesday, September 8 when they travel to Wells College for a non-conference title at 5:00 p.m.
