Gators drops first Skyline match in 2 OT's
Sage fell 1-0 on the road to top ranked Old Westbury in Skyline action.
Old Westbury, NY---The Sage Colleges
men's soccer team travelled to SUNY-Old Westbury on Saturday
afternoon for a key match-up of unbeaten league teams. The host
Panthers needed double-overtime, but collected a 1-0 win over the
Gators. The victory puts Old Westbury at 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the
conference, while Sage falls to 3-5-1 overall and is now 2-1-1 in
the Skyline.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation after both teams were almost even in shots on goal. In the second period of overtime, Old Westbury's German Parodis converted a free kick for a goal to end the match at the 104:49 mark.
Carmen Volpe (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) made five saves in the loss, while Old Westbury's Pablo Diaz earned the shutout win with his four saves.
Sage returns to action on October 5 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 4 p.m. in a Skyline Conference match to be played at Albany Academy for Boys.
