ELMIRA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball picked up an important 3-2 Empire 8 Conference victory at Elmira on Friday evening. The Gators (10-11/5-3 E8), now one step closer to clinching a spot in the E8 Championship Tournament for the second-straight fall, won by scores of 25-13, 23-25, 24-26, 25-13, 15-12.
Sophomore outside hitter Mia Merino (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) registered a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs to pace RSC.
Senior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) added 11 kills on .226 hitting, while freshman libero Emma Curry (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills) tallied 21 digs and six aces.
The Gators, which totaled 22 aces and six blocks, held the host Soaring Eagles (3-22/1-7 E8) to .061 hitting across the five sets.
Freshman middle hitter Julia Morales (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) led the effort at the net with 2.5 total blocks.
RSC looks to clinch a playoff berth by winning at Keuka on Saturday afternoon.
