Gators Come Back to Win at Utica

Down 2-1, the Gators registered 14 of the final 19 points to send the match to a decisive fifth set. In the final period, RSC got out to an 8-3 lead and hit. 471 overall to complete the comeback.
Sophomore outside hitter Mia Merino (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) topped all participants with 14 kills.
Senior opposite Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) tossed in 12 kills on .310 hitting, while freshman libero Emma Curry (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills) contributed 22 digs and five aces.
Senior setter Mia Wood (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) added 23 assists and four aces.
Junior outside hitter Trinity Bailey paced Utica (7-10/0-2 E8) with 12 kills.
The Gators (6-7/1-1 E8), victorious by scores of 25-19, 15-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8, host SUNY Poly tomorrow afternoon.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: RSC made its first appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament last fall…Seven players return this season, including: Kelley and senior outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane)…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings, now in her third season at the helm of the Gators, added nine newcomers to this year's squad…Gerkman was selected the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, August 31.
