Sage men collect program's first Division III win!
Sage men opened play in the Skyline Conference and proceeded to knock off Bard College, 77-73.
Annandale on Hudson, NY---The Sage Colleges men's basketball team opened play in the Skyline Conference taking on Bard College on the road. By night's end, Sage earned the team's first Division III victory and the first conference win of the program. Sage is now 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference, while the Raptors drop to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Sage led 32-28 at the half and was led in scoring by junior guard Garret Bishop's (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) as he netted 22 points in the win. He was joined in double-digit scoring by freshman guard Mervin Springer (Copiague, NY/Copiague) who added 17 points with three steals.
Freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) added 10 points to help Sage to the first win over a Division III program under the direction of rookie head coach Brian Barnes.
Sage returns to action on December 3 travelling to Purchase College for an 8 p.m. conference game.
