Gators rack up second straight win as they knock off Bard
Sage's men's basketball team sweeps Bard on the year for the team's first two-game win streak.
Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges men's basketball team hosted the Raptors of Bard College on Thursday Tuesday night in the Kahl Campus Center. Sage triumphed 77-60 to post the team's first two-game win streak. Sage is now 4-11 overall and 3-8 in the Skyline Conference. Bard drops to 1-15 overall and 1-10 in the conference, riding a five-game losing streak.
Sage led 39-24 at the half as freshman forward Marcus Hunter (Ridge, NY/Longwood) racked up 13 of his 17 points in the first stanza. Hunter finished with a double-double with a career-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sage held Bard scoreless from three-point range as the Raptors were 0-7 and hit just 31.6% of their shots from the floor (12-38) in the first half and finished the night with a 28.6% effort (6-21).
Sage's rookie Mason Horne (Albany, NY/LaSalle Institute) added 15 points for the Gators, while freshman Mervin Springer (Copiague, NY/Copiague) contributed 14 points. Freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) added 13 points as well to help Sage for the win.
Bard sophomore forward Forrest Alvarez-Ringer (New York, NY/Churchill School) added a double-double as he had 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while rookie guard Jeremy Arnstein (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day) added 12 points off the bench and senior guard Adam Shear (Seattle, WA/The Northwest School) had 11 points with six rebounds. Bard's senior guard Justin White (New York, NY/Institute for Collaborative Educations), the team's leading scorer was limited to just six points before fouling out of the contest.
Sage returns to action on January 23 travelling to Farmingdale State College for a 3 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while Bard College visits SUNY Old Westbury that same day for a 4 p.m. conference game.
