Springers' 27 points propels Gators to key win
Mervin Springer , Matt Farbotko and Jeff Stopera all finished in double-digits to pace the Gators to the win.
Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges men's basketball team hosted the Fighting Saints of the College of Saint Joseph's on Wednesday night in the Kahl Campus Center. Sage racked up the 84-70 victory to improve to 7-17 overall, while The College of Saint Joseph's drops to 7-19.
Freshman guard Mervin Springer (Copiague, NY/Copiague) added a career-high 27 points after scoring 18 points in the second half.
Sage's freshman forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) finished with 18 points after adding 10 points in the first half as Sage led 33-27. The double-digit scoring performance was the 16th in a row for Farbotko as he leads the Gators in scoring with 334 points and added 10 rebounds as well .
Saint Joseph's got 25 points and 11 rebounds from sophomore forward Brad Drysdale (Brooklyn, NY), while senior guard Doug Childs (Queens, NY) added 24 points.
Sage returns to action on February 20 travelling to SUNY- Old Westbury for a 4:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game in the squad's season finale.
