SAGE HELEN PUTRIMENT NAMED 2011 SKYLINE CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR; GATORS PLACE TWO ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
New York, NY--The Sage College’s women’s volleyball earned acclaim for their play and performances this past season. Sage’s freshman outside hitter Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) was named the 2011 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year after an outstanding first season. Putriment was also named to the Skyline Conference All-Star First Team, while senior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbons) was named to the second team.
Four times named the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week this past season, Putriment led the 2011 Gators with 377 kills, 425.5 points and a .226 attack percentage. She also ranked amongst the conference leaders in kills per set (3.17, third) and digs per set (3.71, sixth).
Overall on the 2011 season, she turned in performances worthy of the Top Ten in single-season efforts as he 377 kills is fifth best and her 3.17 kills per set average is sixth best. Overall, she played in 119 sets with 444 digs, 38 aces and 18 blocks.
A repeat honoree on the second team, Wilson played in all 119 sets this past season and finished with a personal and team-best 490 digs. She closed her stellar career with 1,669 which is ranked third. With her 2011 dig total, she had three straight 400+ digs performances and four straight 300+ seasons. She played in 440 sets in 131 career matches. She finishes with 3.79 digs per match (fourth best), 121 services aces (12th best),
while her digs on the 2011 campaign rank eight on the single-season record list at Sage. She is second in the Skyline Conference in overall digs, but fourth in digs per set (4.12).
