SAGE’S TO HOST NCAA’S TAKE A KID TO THE GAME IN CONJUNCTION WITH DOUBLEHEADER BASKETBALL GAMES ON FEBRUARY 6; SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP BANNERS TO BE UNVEILED AND CHOMPERS’ READING PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS TO BE RECOGNIZED
Albany, NY—The Sage College’s Department of Athletics will host a basketball doubleheader on Saturday, February 6 in Kahl Gym with the women’s game at 1 p.m. and the men’s game at 3 p.m. In conjunction with the home games on Saturday, Sage will sponsor a number of activities including Take A Kid the Game with free admission for all and prizes for the youngster in attendance at the games.
Sage’s women’s team hosts Skidmore College in a 1 p.m. non-conference contest, while the Gator men’s team will host the Privateers of Maritime College in a Skyline Conference match-up at 3 p.m.
At halftime of the women’s game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sage will recognize the women’s and men’s soccer teams for their outstanding seasons this past fall that included both teams winning Skyline Conference regular-season Championships. The men’s team also won the 2015 Skyline Conference Tournament and garnered the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.
At halftime of the men’s game, which follows on Saturday at 3 p.m., Sage will recognize the Gator student-athletes that were recently honored at the 2016 NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) with an Honorable Mention Award in the 2014-2015 NADIIIAA/JOSTENS Community Service Awards. Sage was one the selected institutions and conferences that was being recognized for the impressive community service projects performed by its student-athletes during the 2014-15 academic year.

The Chompers’ Reading program was started five years ago as members of Sage’s 15 varsity teams visit members of the second grade classes at the Bethlehem School District and participate monthly in reading and projects with the students. Coming in the Spring of 2016, Sage will participate in a Super Chompers’ Program at the Birchwood Elementary School where 50 Sage student-athletes will spend the day reading to all the students and classes, impacting nearly 300 students in grades K-through 5.
