Boston, MA----The Sage College's men's cross country competed on Saturday at the 44th Annual Codfish Bowl hosted at Franklin Field. The meet featured many of the northeast's top programs in both Division I and Division II as well many Division III teams. Sage finished in 23rd place out a field of 26 complete teams.
Leading the way for the Gators was rookie Sean Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) in 88th place in 29:25 for the 8 k race. His older brother, junior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) picked up 113th in 30:56.
Sophomore Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) made his debut on the season after a pre-season injury forced him to watch from the sidelines. He placed 134th in 32:04. Sophomore Jason Applegate (Schenectady, NY/Mohanasen) finished in 135th place in 32:05, while junior Mesfin Solomon (Albany, NY/Albany) posted a time of 32:56 to take 143rd place.
Collin Greenough (Southwick, MA/Southwick-Tolland) took 153rd place in 34:21, while freshman Jesus Vaquez-Lopez (Latham, NY/Shaker) was next in 154th in 34:21. Rookie Chris Darrow (Shokan, NY/Onteora) posted a time of 39:01, but was a non-scorer for the Gators.
Sage returns to action in next week when they travel to the Mt. St. Mary College Invitational on October 1 at 11:30 a.m.
