Ray posts 1,000th career setting assist as Gators down NYU-Poly
Albany, NY--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team hosted NYU-Poly on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference contest. The Gators tallied a 3-0 win over the Fighting Blue Jays (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) and improve to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the league. NYU-Poly drops to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
Sage's junior setter and co-captain Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) racked up 36 setting assists in the contest and becomes the first player in the program's three-year history to achieve his 1,000th career setting assists. Ray now 1,015 career setting assists, a program first for the third-year varsity team. Ray added three digs and now has 304 setting assists this season.
Against the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly, sophomore outside hitter Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had 12 kills with 13 digs. Krowicki earned a spot on the Skyline Conference weekly honor roll for his play last week. Sage's other co-captain, junior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) tallied 10 kills with 14 and three total blocks with an ace.
Sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) added 10 kills with three aces, two digs and a pair of block assists.
The Gators return to action on February 16 travelling to Southern Vermont College for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
