Annandale-on-Hudson, NY--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team opened the 2012 season on Thursday night competing at Bard College in a non-conference match. The host Raptors tallied a 3-0 win in the match (25-23, 25-23, 25-19) and improve to 1-0, while the young Gators drop to 0-1 in the debut of interim head coach Jason Wood.
Pacing the Gators in the action was sophomore outside hitter Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) with eight kills and nine digs. Junior co-captain Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) added six kills with three digs and a solo block.
Sophomore right side Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) had six kills with five digs in his Gator debut. Junior setter and co-captain Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) tallied 19 setting assists now has 730 career setting assists.
The Gators return to action with a home Skyline Conference Quad-Match. Sage will host the College of Mt. St. Vincent, Purchase College, and Yeshiva University in the Kahl Center (Albany, NY) on January 29. Action commences at Noon with a second set of matches at 2 p.m.
