Kean tops Sage in Skyline Conference battle
Albany, NY--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team hosted Kean University in a Skyline Conference match that featured a pair of the league's two undefeated squads. The visiting Cougars tallied a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) to improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the league, while the loss puts Sage at 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Kean's junior outside hitter Steve Vahalla (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) tallied nine kills and two aces with a pair of blocks, while senior outside hitter Steve Portera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) added nine kills and five blocks.
For the Gators, junior co-captain Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) added 10 kills with three blocks and five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had five kills with two digs, while sophomore right side Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) had three kills with three digs and a pair of block assists. Junior setter and co-captain Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) tallied 19 setting assists with two kills and six digs.
