Yeshiva snaps Gators' win streak in Skyline Conference action
Albany, NY--- The Sage Colleges men's basketball team hosted Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match-up. Yeshiva tallied the 86-81 win to snap the Gators' four-game win streak. Yeshiva improves to 5-17 overall and 5-13 in the league, while the loss puts Sage at 12-11 overall and 9-9 in the league.
The Gators held a 42-38 lead at the intermission, but the Maccabees overcame the Gators down the stretch to seal the win. Sage had three players finish in double-digit scoring as junior forward Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) tallied a team-best 19 points, while sophomore forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) added 15 points. Junior Pat Lanoue (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley Central) connected for 11 points as well in 36 minutes of service.
Yeshiva's sophomore guard Gil Bash (Tel Aviv, Israel) exploded for a game-high 35 points as he hit 18-of-19 free throws and hit 8-of-12 field goals in the contest. Bash tallied 19 second half point to spur the Maccabees win.
The Gators overcame a 29-26 halftime deficit and rallied for the non-conference victory as junior forward Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) tallied a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior Pat Lanoue (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley Central) came up strong for the team in the second half as he connected for 11 of his 19 points in the second half as Sage shot 81.0% from the line in the second half (17-21).
Sage will host Bard College on Wednesday, February 16 at 8 p.m. in the Kahl Center in a Skyline Conference game. Sage will honor their first class of seniors, Lamont Garland and Derick Faragon in conjunction with senior night.
