Sage falls on the road to the Eagles, 111-95
Patchogue, NY--- The Sage Colleges men's basketball team travelled to St. Joseph's College on Saturday night for a Skyline Conference contest. The top ranked Eagles came away with the 111-95 win to improve to 15-2 overall and 11-1 in the league, while Sage drops to 8-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference.
The Gators held a 47-39 edge at the break, but the Eagles went on a scoring output as they tallied 72 second-half point to the 48 scored by Sage and fell in the key conference road contest. The Eagles shot a blistering 74.3% from the floor in the second half as they connected for 26-of-35 field goals in the half to overcome Sage's lead. Sage finished the night with a 37-30 edge on the boards as senior Derick Faragon (Rotterdam Junction, NY/Schenectady) tallied nine boards, all on defense.
Sage got a career-high 25-point effort from sophomore Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) as he hit 11-of-14 field goals in the contest. Sage's junior Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Icahbod Crane) added 21 points off the bench as he was hot connecting on 9-of-10 field goals in the game off the bench. Junior Pat Lanoue (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley Central) added a career-high 20 points in the contest, but it was not enough to overcome the high-scoring Eagles.
SJC's junior guard Chris Jimenez (Huntington Station, NY/St. Anthony's) added a game-high 28 points and led the team's scoring efforts as every start finished in double digits.
Sage returns to action on January 31 hosting Purchase College in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game in the Neff Center in Troy, NY.
