Welacher explodes for personal-best four goals in Gators' game with Cazenovia
Sage's senior co-captain Weilacher led the team with 4 goals, but the Gators fell 22-5.
CAZENOVIA TOPS SAGE IN WOMEN’S LACROSSE, 22-5
Syracuse, NY----The Sage Colleges’ women’s lacrosse team traveled to Cazenovia College for a non-conference contest with the Wildcats. Cazenovia collected the 22-5 victory to improve to 3-5, while the Gators fall to 0-5.
Sage’s senior co-captain midfielder Karalin Weilacher (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) exploded for a season-high four goals in the contest. A year ago, she tallied just an assist for the Gators in the program’s first season of varsity play. With her performance on Friday, she has taken over Sage’s scoring race as she now has five goals. Sophomore midfielder Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) added a goal and an assist in the game for her first goal of the season.
Cazenovia’s junior Kristin Small (Hopedale, MA) and junior Ashley Rasberry (Livonia, NY) each netted four scores a piece in the contest.
Sage’s freshman goalie Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) recorded 13 saves in the contest, while Cazenovia’s freshman keeper Liz Cook (Bernhards Bay, NY) tallied 17 saves.
Sage returns to action on Tuesday, April 6 at Bard College for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
