Mt. St. Vincent topples Gators, 19-4

The Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent posted an impressive 19-4 win over The Sage Colleges’ in women’s lacrosse action on Saturday at Albany Academy. The Dolphins led 12-1 at the break and eased to the Skyline Conference victory as they improve to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline Conference. Sage drops to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in the league.
CMSV’s offense was paced junior midfielder Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, NY/Suffern) as she racked up seven points in the game on four goals with three assists. The performance elevates her season totals to a team-leading 19 goals with 12 assists for 31 points. Junior attacker Lauren Perla (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) added four goals and an assist and now has eight goals with two assists on the season.
Senior midfielder Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY/Baker) also connected for four goal in the contest, while seven different players found the net on Saturday.
Sage’s junior midfielder Gabrielle Piccione (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) added two goals for the Gators while senior midfielder Karalin Weilacher (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) added two points on a goal and an assist. Weilacher leads the team with her nine points this season on seven goals and two assists.
Sage’s freshman goalie Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) recorded 12 saves in the contest, while Mt. Saint Vincent’s senior Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) collected seven saves for the win.
Sage returns to action on Monday, April 12 for a road Skyline Conference with Mount Saint Mary at 7 p.m., while CMSV hosts Ramapo on April 17 at 1 p.m.
