Purchase tops Gators depsite 20 points from Jess Byerwalters

Troy, NY--- The Sage College women's basketball team hosted Purchase College on Wednesday night in the Neff Athletic Center in a Skyline Conference game.  Purchase College captured the contest with a 77-59 win as junior guard Amanda Capone (Southhold, NY/Southhold) added 22 points. Purchase improves to 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage drops 7-10 overall and 5-7 in the Skyline Conference.

Purchase led 33-32 at the half as Capone (Southhold, NY/Southhold) paced her team with 14 points including three three-point baskets. Freshman guard Imani Floyd (Ossining, NY/Ossining) paced her team on the boards with eight first rebounds and helped the Panthers hold a 26-21 edge on the boards in the first stanza of play. She finished with a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Purchase also got a double-double from senior center Liila Mack (Monticello, NY/Monticello) as she had 14 points with 10 rebounds.

Sage's junior Jessica Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) added 14 of her 20   points in the first half and shot 8-19 from the floor in the contest. Junior guard Liz Donk (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) added nine points and nine rebounds for the Gators.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, January 30 hosting NYU-Poly in the Kahl Campus Center (Albany) at 1 p.m., while Purchase College hosts St. Joseph's in a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
