Sage women fall to St. Joe's on the road
The Gators dropped a 63-49 decision in league play to St. Joe's.
Patchoghue, NY--- The Sage Colleges women's basketball team
traveled to St. Joseph's College on Saturday afternoon for a
Skyline Conference contest. The Golden Eagles tallied the
win, 63-49 to improve to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the league. Sage
drops to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the Skyline Conference.
St. Joe's led 28-21 at the half as senior forward Dana Carney (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) added eight first half points. She would finish with a double-double with a team-high 14 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Carissa Pirotta (Northport, NY/Northport) tallied 12 points with a team-high eight steals with four assists.
The Gators were led by junior guard Jessica Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Swelkirk) as she netted 13 points with six assists, while senior guard Carlin DeMarinis (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) added 12 points. Senior forward Amber Muir (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) hauled down a season-high 14 rebounds, including nine defensive boards for the Gators.
Sage returns to action on Tuesday, January 12 when they travel to NYU-Poly for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while St. Joseph's College hosts Purchase College that same night at 6 p.m.
