Acosta Chosen the E8 Player of the Week
ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Basketball senior Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) was chosen the Empire 8 Conference Player of the week for the period ending Sunday, February 1.
The guard averaged 22.3 points across three games. Acosta, who made 39.3 percent of her field goal attempts, totaled 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and five steals in the 2-1 week.
Acosta, starting this week ranked third in the Conference in scoring average, scored 35 points on Friday evening at SUNY Brockport. She passed Mary Leary '83 for fourth place on the program's career scoring list with the output, tied for the third-most in a game by an RSC player...On January 12, 2019, Emily Parslow '19, who is third on the program career scoring list, scored 35 points vs. Nazareth.
With the calendar having turned to February yesterday, RSC (13-7/8-3 E8) only has five games left in the regular season. The Gators kick off the final stretch at home on Friday against Elmira.
