ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Russell Sage College softball continued its Empire 8 slate on Friday afternoon as they traveled to Rochester for a doubleheader against St. John Fisher University.
The Gators fell in both ends of the twin bill, losing 9-1 in the five-inning opener and 7-1 in game two.
In game one, SJFU struck first with a three-run homerun in the first inning. RSC scratched one across in the 4th inning as junior Emily O'Keefe (Albany, NY/Albany) hit a run-producing single.
In game two, junior Allison Kenyon (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) drove in the lone Gator run on a groundout.
Sophomore Carmela DeMaio (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) led all Gator batters by reaching base four times in the doubleheader, including a pair of singles in the nightcap.
Looking ahead, RSC (8-8/1-3 E8) continues its weekend in Rochester tomorrow with a doubleheader against Nazareth.
