The Gators (17-3/9-2 E8), which had their buzzer beating three-point attempt to tie it not fall, had four players score in twin figures this afternoon.
Sophomore guard Kyle Dhu (Ozone Park, NY/Brooklyn Law and Tech) led the way with 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting. He made six three-pointers in ten attempts and tallied three steals.
Junior guard Pape Tunkara (Mount Vernon, NY/Iona Prep/Genesee CC) added 19 points and five rebounds, while senior guard Brandon Harris (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton/Herkimer CC), announced as the E8 Player of the Week on Monday, tallied 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, five assists, and four rebounds.
Junior center Khalel Noteman (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) tossed in 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, four rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore guard Trevor Hofer helped Geneseo (12-7/8-2 E8) win its fourth in-a-row, topping all participants with 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
The Knights used a late 10-4 run spanning 2:04 to gain control of the Saturday matinee. The stretch turned a slim 72-71 RSC advantage into an 81-76 lead for the hosts with 2:04 to go.
Down by six, 87-81, with 1:20 remaining, Harris, who began the days as the Conference leader in steals and steals per-game and ranked fifth in scoring average, halved the RSC deficit with a three with 1:07 left. The trey marked the final points of the contest, which featured 11 lead changes and seven ties, for either side.
The Gators begin their February schedule on Friday at home vs. Elmira.
