Sage women dominate field and win Green Mountain Invitational
Rutland, VT– The Sage College's women's cross country team was in action on Saturday at the Green Mountain College Invitational. Only a first-year program, it did not take long for Sage's women's team to hit gold as they captured the team title and also produced the women's individual champion. Sage's women won the race with a score of 31, besting Green Mountain College (67) and third place Castleton State's (74).
Leading the way for Sage was rookie Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) as she won the 5 K race in a time of 20:32 just ahead of her teammate, senior captain Katie Fargnoli (West Islip, NY/West Islip). Fargnoli took second in 20:47.
Sage freshman Kiera Warner (Chestertown, NY/North Warren) picked up fifth place in 21:36. Freshman Amanda Millington (Chestertown, NY/North Warren) added at 10th place finish with her time of 22:22. Sophomore Caitlin Coughlin (Palenville, NY/Catskill) picked up 13th in 22:48.
Also running for Sage was rookie Megan Lugo (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) as she finished in 17th place in 23:12. Rookie Leanne Egan (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) picked up 33rd place in 25:21, while senior Jen Poulin (Walton, NY/Walton Central) was next in 37th in 276:04. Junior Chelsea Weber (Wyantskill, NY/Tamarac) picked up 39th in 26:27, while freshman Mary Valentine (Housatonic, MA/Monument Mountain) picked up 46th in 28:44, just one second ahead of freshman Anna McConnell (Broadalbin, NY/Amsterdam) who finished in 47th in 28:45.
