Sage women's harriers post impressive showing on opening day as two finish in Top 20

Utica, NY– Sage College had their newest team, the women's cross country squad make their debut on Saturday afternoon as the Gator women competed at the SUNY-IT Wildcat Invitational. William Smith College won the 5-k meet with an impressive score of 42, while Sage's women's team tied for third with the Culinary Institute as both teams posted a score of 125 in the 14-team race.
Leading the way for Sage with a strong Top 10 finish was freshman Kiera Warner (Chestertown, MA/North Warren) as she finished in 8th place in 21:39.2. Next in 14th place was rookie Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena Coeymans Selkirk) in a time of 22:11.7. Taking 26th place for the Gators was senior Katie Fargnoli (West Islip, NY/West Islip) in 23:12.2.
Freshman Amanda Millington (Chestertown, NY/North Warren) picked up 31st place in 23:36.2, while freshman Megan Lugo (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) picked up 46th in 24:52.1 and was the finals scorer for the Gators.
Also running on Saturday for Sage was senior Jennifer Poulin (Walton, NY/Walton Central) as she posted a time of 25:26.6 and took home 51st place. Freshman Leanne Egan (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) took home 65th in 27:24.4, while rookie Kayla Hartman (Sugar Land, TX/Stephen Austin) placed 95th in 28:19.4. Also competing for Sage on opening day was junior Chelsea Weber (Wyantskill, NY/Tamarac) as she placed 98th in 28:43.0. Senior Alexandra Farina (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added a 112th place showing in 30:15.7, while rookie Anna McConnell (Broadalbin, NY/Amsterdam) was next in 30:50.3 to take 113th.
Freshman Mary Valentine (Housatinic, MA/Monument Mountain) placed in 116th in 31:53.5, while Victoria Boucard (Richmond Hills, NY) took home 112nd in 33:12.7. Also competing on this historic day for the Gators was sophomore Shelbi Montanaro (Hagaman, NY/Amsterdam) as she posted a time of 41:52.0 to finished in 128th place.
