Men's volleyball tops NYU-Poly at Bard Invitational
Kyle Ray earned All-Tournament Team honors as Sage finishes in third place at the Bard Invitational.
Annandale on Hudson, NY--The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team wrapped competition on Saturday at the Bard College Invitational, a two-day, six-team tournament. Sage tallied a 3-0 win over NYU-Poly in pool play and went 2-1 for the event. Sage defeated NYU-Poly 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 to improve to 6-7 on the season.
Sage's rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added 17 digs in the contest, while freshman opposite Ryan Wilkins (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added eight kills. Sophomore setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) with 23 setting assists with five digs, while freshman middle hitter Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) added seven kills.
Bynon and Ray earned a spot on the Bard College Invitational All-Tournament Team as they helped Sage to a third place finish.
The Gators will be back in action on Sunday competing at Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference Quad match featuring NYU-Poly and the hosts from Yeshiva.
