Sage falls at Endicott in men's volleyball action
Beverly, MA---- The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team travelled to Endicott College for a non-conference match on Saturday evening. Endicott posted the 3-0 win (25-15, 25-13, 27-25) and improves to 5-3 overall, while Sage falls to 2-4.
EC's junior outside hitter Jeremy Siden (Natick, MA) paced the Gulls starters with 13 kills while the third set featured several Endicott bench players making significant contributions. Those included newcomer Brennan Lowe (Malibu, CA) with seven kills and freshman setter Carter Roche (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) with 13 set assists.
For the Gators, freshman opposite Ryan Wilkins (Ballston Lakes, NY/Shenendehowa) was near perfect with nine kills and only one error for a match-high .571 hit percentage. He added four blocks, while sophomore setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) dished out 18 assists. Junior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem) anticipated the opposing attack with three solo and two assisted blocks.
Sophomore Jake Douty (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) chipped in with four kills, while rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added eight digs.
Endicott's Travis Netherton (Waukegan, IL) also did his part on defense with one solo block and five assisted stops. Both teams had 8.0 team blocks.
Sage returns to action on February 9 hosting Bard College in the Kahl Center in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
