Sage splits results on Day One of Bard Invitational
Annandale on Hudson, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team competed on Friday evening at the Bard College Invitational, a two-day, six-team tournament. Sage opened play facing Medgar Evers College and tallied a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-16, 25-16). The Gators then fell 3-0 to Mount Ida College, 25-19, 25-20, 27-25) and are now 5-7 overall on the young season.
Sage returns to action on Saturday and will face NYU-Poly in action at 11 a.m. in pool play.
Against Medgar Evers, Sage's sophomore outside hitter Jeremy Mosch (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) tallied eight kills with seven digs and a pair of aces. Freshman setter Zachary Kuhn (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) added six kills and freshman setter Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added 23 assists.
In the second match of the evening, Mosch had nine kills with a pair of digs, while rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added five digs. Freshman opposite Ryan Wilkins (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added seven kills with three digs. Rounding out the Sage performers in the contest was sophomore setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) with 25 setting assists with two digs and a pair of blocks.
