RSC Men's Soccer in the E8 Championship Tournament: The Gators defeated visiting Hartwick 3-2 on Wednesday to lock up a playoff spot…RSC is making its sixth appearance in the E8 Championship Tournament....The Gators reached the finals in both the 2017 and 2020-21 editions.
Head Coach Amir Pasic after the Hartwick Win: "A week and a half ago we met as a group and committed to the cause. We knew we had it in us and we knew if we won out, we'd be in. The boys were brave enough to go out and execute the impossible and it all started with a belief within the group. I'm so happy for everyone, especially our seniors who have been through some really difficult moments over the years to get where we are at now as a group."
Gator Bites with Papa John's: Pasic is in his fourth season at the helm of the Gators…Russell Sage closed the regular season by going 4-0-0 to secure a spot in the postseason…The Gators made the E8 Tournament for the second-straight season…Last fall, the Gators fell 1-0 at top-seeded Saint John Fisher in the Quarterfinals…21 players are back from last autumn…There are 11 newcomers on this year's squad...Sophomore Logan Diebold (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) was selected the E8 Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 14…He factored into both RSC goals of 2-1 E8 win vs. SUNY Brockport on September 13…The Gators got off to a 5-1-1 start, the best record to begin a season since joining the E8 in 2017… Freshman goalkeeper Mateja Milutin (Vojvodina, Novi Sad, Serbia/The Kiski School) was chosen an E8 Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 5...He totaled eight saves across 180:00 shutout minutes…Milutin opened the week ranked fourth in the Conference in both goals against average and save percentage…Junior forward Peter Martillotta (Gasport, NY/Royalton Hartland) was selected the Conference's Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 26…He scored three goals in the home shutout of Houghton on Saturday, October 25…He heads into the playoffs tied for sixth in the E8 with five goals…Sophomore midfielder Anthony Geis (Newburgh, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) entered Wednesday's regular season finale tied for third in the Conference with two game-winning goals, while senior forward John Lewis Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial/Saint Rose) was tied for fourth in the E8 with five assists.
Up Next: The winner of Saturday's contest will face either Nazareth or Elmira on Wednesday in the Semifinals.
