ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer earned a spot in the Empire 8 Conference Championship tournament with their 3-2 victory over Hartwick on Wednesday.
The Gators (10-6-2/4-5-2 E8) held a 2-1 advantage at the half, thanks to goals from sophomore midfielder Anthony Geis (
Hartwick (5-9-2/4-6-1 E8) tied it up in the third period on a penalty kick from Matheiu Six in the beginning of the second period. That score would hold for the majority of the game, until RSC got a corner opportunity with just nine minutes left on the clock.
Geis took the corner, placing a perfect cross for freshman defender Dylan Rosenberg (
"Coming in as a freshman and helping out my seniors in what could've been their last game ever for Sage, putting that ball in the back of the net was just an unreal feeling," shared Rosenberg after the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Aiden Van Oostveen (Westfield, MA/Westfield) (4-0-0) stopped six Hawks shots to help Russell Sage win their fourth straight contest.
RSC kicks off its playoff run on Saturday at Brockport.
