Gators open spring half of season at Delhi Meet
Delhi, NY--The Sage College's men's golf team opened the spring season at the SUNY-Delhi Invitational on Friday and not only had to battle the opponents, but some very nasty weather conditions of extreme cold, sleet, and heavy rains. By day's end, the Gators had taken home a fifth place finish in a field of six teams.

Sage's junior Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) shot a round of 80 for the tournament, while junior Jeff Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) shot an 82 on the day. Stopera, the Gators' starting point guard on the men's basketball team was the team's second leading scorer in his debut as a member of the golf team.
Sage junior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) had an 85, while freshman Devin Zurlo (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) as he had a 126 for the day.
Overall, Christman tied for ninth place, while Stopera tied for 12th place. Sullivan finished in 17th place and Zurlo took home 33rd place as Sage shot a 373 for the day.
Junior Sarah MacArthur (Ancram, NY/Taconic Hills) competed for the Gators in the women's flight and had a strong showing as she finished in fourth place with her round of 105.
Next up for Sage is the Sage Spring Invitational on April 20 at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at the Olde Kinderhook Golf Club in Valatia, NY.
