Golfers take 10th at Elms Invitational
Granby, MA--The Sage College's men's golf team competed on Wednesday at the Elms College Trailblazer Invitational at the Westover Country Club. The host Trailblazers won the event with a 309 for the day. The Gators finished in 10th place in a field of 15 teams after shooting a 346 for the day.
Rhode Island finished in second place with a team score of 311 and Emmanuel College totaled a 325 to place third. Westfield State University finished fourth (329), Castleton State College (331) and Anna Maria College (331), Franklin Pierce University followed with a 334, Newbury College (336), Nichols College (343), The Sage Colleges (346), MCLA (355), Becker College (358), Worcester State University (372), Daniel Webster College (391) and Mitchell College (397) completed the 15-team field.
Anchormen golfer Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Castleton State's Bryan Fitzgerald (Shelton, Conn.) turned in rounds of 76 to finish in a tie for fourth place and round out the top five individual finishers.
Sage's junior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) carded an 82 on the day to finish tied for 16th place individually. Senior captain Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) shot an 86 and tied for 39th.
Sage's junior Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) finished tied for 43rd after shooting an 87 on Wednesday. Rookie DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), who placed in a tie for 53rd place with a score of 91, while senior Shane Kiselis (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) was forced to withdraw.
