Gators in second place through one day of Skyline Championship
Farmingdale, NY--The Sage College's men's golf team opened play on Sunday at the 2012 Skyline Conference Championships. Ram teammates Adam Larkin and Matt Pollock are atop the leader board after shooting six-over 76 on Sunday afternoon as four-time defending champion Farmingdale State leads after the opening round of the 2012 Skyline Men's Golf Championship at Bethpage State Park - Red Course.
FSC shot a 28-over 308 and holds an 18-stroke lead over The Sage Colleges (326). Purchase is in third place at 328, followed by St. Joseph's-L.I. (329), NYU-Poly (356), Yeshiva (380) and Old Westbury (441).
Sage's junior Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) is tied with Rich Kelly of FSC for third place as each player shot a 77 in the opening round. Sage's senior captain Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and junior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) are tied with Chris Brosi of Farmingdale State for fifth place at 79. Rounding out the scorers for Sage on the par 70, 6,850 yard course is Gator rookie , DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), who is in 21st place with a 91.
Action wraps on Monday in the final day of the Skyline Conference Championships. The league's championship team garners an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships in May.
