Gators take home 2nd place at Skyline Championships; Produce 3 Skyline All-Stars at meet
Farmingdale, NY--The Sage College's men's golf team wrapped up competition on Monday at the 2012 Skyline Conference Championships. For the second straight year, the Gators settled for the runner-up trophy as Farmingdale State captured the league title for the fifth straight year. As a result of its sixth Skyline title in the last seven seasons, Farmingdale State earns the league's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships, to be held May 14-17 at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.
The Skyline Men's Golf Championship was held at Bethpage State Park - Red Course and the Rams shot a 610 (308-302), while Sage picked up a second place on a 653, (326-327).
Rounding out the team standings was a tie for third place with Purchase and St. Joseph's (L.I.) with a score of 660. Purchase had a 328 on day one and a 332 on day two, while the Golden Eagles picked up a 329 on day one and a 331 for the final day. Rounding out the team standings was NYU-Poly with a 723 (356-367), Yeshiva with 755 (380+ 375) and Old Westbury with an 854 (441 + 413).
Farmingdale's junior Adam Larkin fired a school-record two-under 68 to lead Farmingdale State to its fifth consecutive Skyline Golf Championship. Larkin, who finished fourth overall at the 2011 Championship, was the top individual finisher with a four-over 144 after shooting an opening round 76. The Bellmore, N.Y., resident was tabbed the Skyline Player of the Year for his efforts. Farmingdale State teammates Matt Pollock (+14 / 154), Rich Kelly (+15 / 155) and Chris Brosi (+17 / 157) finished Nos. 2-4, respectively, as each carded scores of 78 on Monday, with Brosi earning Skyline Rookie of the Year distinction.

Sage's junior Richie Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) shot a 77 in the opening round and finished with an 81 for a two-day total of 158. He finished in fifth place overall and finished +18 for the event. He earned Skyline Conference All-Star First Team honors for his efforts.
Sage's senior captain Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) added a two-day performance of a 164 (79-85) to finish in a tie for 10th place with fellow Gator, Sage junior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake). Sullivan had a 79 on Sunday, and carded an 85 on Monday to also finish with a 164. The pair were named to the Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team for their efforts. For Sullivan it is his second straight Second Team selection after taking home seventh place a year ago at the championships.
Sage's rookie DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) finished with an 83 on Monday and had a two-day total of 174 and picked up 19th place.
After missing the first day with an injury, senior Shane Kiselis (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) carded a round of 78 on Monday to finish as the Gator low scorer.
