Gators Tally Eight Top-Tens at Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Outdoor Track and Field broke a pair of program records and tallied eight top-ten finishes at Saturday's Utica Pioneer Open.
Freshman Christopher Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial) registered the highest placing of the day for the Gators. The rookie was third in the 1,500m run with a school-record 4:09.46 clocking. The previous record had stood since March of 2021.
Senior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) broke the RSC record in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.60. He finished eighth with the effort, while taking seventh in the pole vault by clearing 3.16m.
On the women's side, senior Marisa Ethier (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga/HVCC) achieved a mark of 9.25m to finish seventh in the shot put.
Freshman Presley Gosselin (Whitehall, NY/Whitehall Central) cleared 1.30m in the high jump, good for eighth place.
Freshman Savannah Smith (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) spun the discus 25.12m to finish eighth.
Looking ahead, the Gators compete next on Saturday at Hamilton.
