Six RSC Records Fall at Utica
UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College returned to Utica for the second-straight weekend to compete at the Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday.
The Gators tallied six program records on the day, five by the men and one by the women.
Freshman Christopher Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial) excelled in the mid-distance events. The rookie finished third in the mile with a time of 4:26.03 and fourth in the 1,000m with a 2:38.69 clocking. Both times were new RSC bests.
Senior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) increased his school standards in the pole vault and high jump, achieving marks of 3.48m and 1.78m respectively.
The duo teamed with freshman Kishamar Glasgow (West Harrison, NY/Harrison), and freshman Cesar Hernandez (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) to set the program record in the 4x400m relay. The quartet crossed the line in 3:44.09.
On the women's side, junior Mercedez Cecelia-Storey (Pine Hill, NY/Onteora) broke the RSC record in the weight throw with a toss of 11.89m.
The Gators will head to West Point next weekend for their final tune-up before the Empire 8 Conference Championships.
