Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match-up. Skidmore posted the 90-78 win over the Gators, handing Sage just their second home loss all season and snapping Sage's nine-game home win streak. Skidmore improves to 12-9 overall, while Sage falls to 17-4 on the year.
Skidmore's sophomore guard Kelly Donnelly (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) poured in a double-double with her 28 points and 13 rebounds. She shot a blistering 13-19 from the floor and had two assists with two steals as Skidmore led 46-37 at the half.
Sophomore guard Veronica Moceri (Hudson, NH/Alvirne) added 13 points with five boards and three assists, while junior center Migle Vilunaite (Vilinius, Lithuania) added 11 points with six rebounds. Skidmore shot 50.0% for the game from the floor as they converted 38-76 and held a slight 45-42 edge on the boards.
Sage's sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds for the Gators and hit an impressive 9-14 from the floor as well. She handed out five assists and now has a school-record 107 free throws made on the season after shooting 6-9 on Saturday. Only a sophomore, she boasts a resume that includes 540 points, 331 rebounds and 48 blocks.
Also for the Gators, junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) collected 18 points and added three assists with two blocks and a steal. She also tallied a pair of three-point field goals and now has 122 and is rapidly closing in the record held by Carly Vallee (126, 2009-2013).
Rookie guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) tallied 14 points with five rebounds, seven assists and two steals for Sage. Newcomer Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) also finished with 12 points with eight rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Gators.
Sage returns to action on February 9 hosting Albany College of Pharmacy in a 7 p.m. non-conference match-up in Kahl Gym.
