Gators fall to MSMC, 76-34
Sage's women's basketball team fell at the hands of the Blue Knights in conference action on Wednesday night.
Troy, NY--- The Sage College women's basketball team hosted Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday night in the Neff Athletic Center in a Skyline Conference game. Mount Saint Mary College racked up the sweep of the Gators on the season after collecting the 76-34 win to improve to 15-4 overall and 12-1 in the league. Sage drops to 8-11 overall and 6-8 in the conference.
MSMC led 32-15 at the half despite shooting 23.3% from the floor. By game's end, the Blue Knights shot 37.7% from the floor (23-61) and had four different players finish in double-digit scoring. Leading the way was freshman forward Kate Hartnett (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park Memorial) with 14 points off the bench with a team-high eight rebounds. She hit 5-8 from the floor and was a perfect 4-4 from the line as the Blue Knights hit 24-of-28 free throws in the contest.
Senior forward Shannon Sangster (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) added 13 points with seven rebounds and two blocks, while senior guard Catie Biordi (Beacon, NY/Beacon) also added 13 points.
Sage's rookie Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central) lead the team with her nine points and 10 rebounds, while junior guard Liz Donk (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) added eight points for the Gators.
Sage returns to action on Friday, February 5 travelling to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a 7 p.m. non-conference game, while MSMC returns to action on February 6 in a 2 p.m. non-conference game with Lehman College.
