Vallee paces Sage in 78-34 win over Yeshiva
Sage's rookie Carlee Vallee racked up 19 points to lead Sage to their second-straight win.
Albany, NY--- The Sage College women’s basketball team
hosted Yeshiva University on Tuesday night in the Kahl Campus
Center in a Skyline Conference game. Sage triumphed 78-34 to
improve to 6-8 overall and 4-5 in the Skyline Conference. Yeshiva
drops to 2-11 overall and 0-9 in the league.
Sage led 44-16 at the break and was paced by the efforts of rookie
guard Carlee Vallee (East Greenbush, NY/Catholic Central) as she
netted a career-high 13 points in the first half off the bench.
Vallee hit three three-point field goals and helped the Gators rack
up their second straight win. By game’s end, Vallee finished
with 19 points.
Adding to the success for Sage was senior Amber Muir (Schenectady,
NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) as she had a double-double on 10
points with 13 reboundsafter adding six points and eight rebounds
in the first half. Sage’s junior Jessica Byerwalters
(Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) added 16 points for
Sage, while rookie forward Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central)
connected on 14 points with seven steals.
Yeshiva, which had not played a since game since December 16, was
led by senior guard Jaclyn Ramras (Woodmere, NY/SKA) as she scored
14 points with five rebounds, while junior Avi Varnai (Chicago, IL)
added eight points with seven rebounds.
Sage held a 26-21 edge on the boards in the first half and held the
Maccabees to just 25.0% shooting (6-24). Sage finished the night
with a 56-36 margin on the boards and forced 30 turnovers. The
Gators were held to just 22.2% from three-point range for the game
(4-18).
Sage returns to action on Thursday, January 21 hosting Bard College
in the Kahl Campus Center at 6 p.m. in a league contest, while
Yeshiva University travels to Mt. Saint Vincent College for a 7
p.m. road conference game.
