Union collects 8-1 win over Sage women's netters

Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team hosted the Dutchwomen of Union College on Monday afternoon in a non-conference match at Prospect Park. Union posted an 8-1 win to improve to 4-2 on the year, while the loss puts Sage at 6-4.

The lone win for Sage came at No. 1 singles as junior Kirsten Ackerman (Rensselear, NY/Guilderland) beat freshman Natalia Pronchick (Lexington, MA/Lexington), 6-4, 6-2. The win puts Ackerman at 12-2 this season in singles play.

At No. 1 doubles, Union's Pronchick and rookie Mina Hsia (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) posted a 9-8 (8-6) win over Ackerman and senior Nicole Riley (Catskill, NY/Catskill), giving Sage's top pair their first dual meet loss of the season. Ackerman and Riley are now 10-2 on the year with a record of 9-1 in dual action. Hsia added a win at No. 2 singles, beating Riley 6-0, 6-0.

The Gators return to action on October 5 travelling to St. Joseph's College (LI) for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
